Lead AI Engineer

AI Lead; Route to Head of AI Rapid Scale-up & Platform / DevEx Consultancy

We're working with a London-based engineering consultancy that helps some of the world's biggest organisations deliver complex digital products faster, safer and smarter.

They're experts in cloud, platform and developer experience trusted by large-scale enterprises to modernise systems, accelerate delivery and improve how engineering teams build at scale.

Now, they're building something new: an AI function designed to transform how enterprises leverage data and automation across their delivery lifecycle. This is a chance to lead from the front, designing, deploying and scaling AI-driven systems that enhance developer productivity, reliability and platform performance.

The role

• Lead the design and implementation of applied AI solutions across platform, infrastructure and delivery domains
• Work closely with senior engineers, architects and clients to identify automation and optimisation opportunities
• Develop models, pipelines and tooling that integrate seamlessly into enterprise-grade cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Shape and scale the AI roadmap as the team grows, with a clear path to Head of AI

You'll have

• Strong engineering background with experience deploying production-grade AI or ML systems
• Skilled in Python or similar languages, with exposure to modern AI frameworks and MLOps
• Experience working in cloud-native environments (Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD)
• Comfortable engaging with clients, solving real-world technical challenges, and leading by example
• Experience leading teams
