Data Management SME

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Data Management SME to support high-profile engagements with leading financial services organisations. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building strong data foundations that maximise data value while ensuring it’s governed, protected and compliant.

You’ll work across a range of strategic data initiatives, partnering closely with business and technology stakeholders to identify data issues, analyse root causes, and deliver robust data management solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Engaging stakeholders to gather, analyse and document business and technical data requirements
  • Translating business needs into scalable, data-driven solutions
  • Supporting delivery of strategic data initiatives across regulated environments
  • Performing data analysis and validation using SQL
  • Investigating data issues and providing clear, actionable insights
  • Delivering core data management artefacts including:
  • Data glossaries
  • Data quality rules and controls
  • Data lineage and metadata documentation
  • Supporting data governance, records management and regulatory compliance (including GDPR)
Essential Skills & Experience

Data Analysis & Requirements

  • Strong experience gathering and documenting business and technical data requirements
  • Proven ability to work across both technical and non-technical teams
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and best practices

Data Management & Governance

  • Hands-on experience designing or implementing Data Quality and/or Data Governance frameworks
  • Experience working with unstructured data and records management tools (e.g. Microsoft Purview)
  • Experience defining and enforcing data quality rules
  • Experience implementing or maintaining data lineage and metadata solutions (e.g. Collibra, Solidatus)
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within financial services

SQL & Reporting

  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation and reporting
  • Experience supporting business reporting and data validation activities

Stakeholder Management

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to explain complex data concepts in a clear and pragmatic way
  • Strong collaboration skills within cross-functional delivery teams
Desirable Experience
  • Enterprise data governance tools (Collibra, Purview, Informatica or similar)
  • Defining data domains and governance frameworks in complex organisations
  • Data architecture concepts (data platforms, integration, metadata management)
  • Experience in regulated environments (financial services preferred)
  • Data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical)
  • Cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • AI governance and ethical data practices
  • Relevant certifications (DAMA-DMBOK, Collibra, Microsoft Data, TOGAF)
Qualifications
  • IT / Technology-related university degree
  • Minimum 2:1 classification
