Interim Global Regulatory Counsel – Payments Industry

A leading global technology company in the payments sector is seeking an experienced Payments / Regulatory Counsel to join its legal team on an interim basis. This role will support a major initiative focused on enabling money transfers beyond traditional card transactions, known as Direct to Scheme (D2S).

As the primary regulatory contact for this project, you will lead the development and execution of global regulatory strategy, manage local regulatory advice, and oversee license application processes. You will coordinate with local counsel, compliance teams, and regulators to ensure all requirements are met while driving the expansion of innovative payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the single regulatory point of contact for D2S
  • Lead global regulatory planning and Phase 2 implementation
  • Manage local regulatory guidance and license readiness
  • Support regulator and scheme operator engagement
  • Consolidate obligations across multiple jurisdictions

Ideal Profile:

  • Law degree and admitted to practice in the UK
  • Minimum 7 years post-qualified experience
  • Expertise in payments regulation and cross-border transfers
  • Background in financial services or payments organizations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across global teams

  • Full-time, 12-month assignment.
