Senior QA Engineer

Senior QA Engineer (IoT / Platform & Devices)

St Albans (Hybrid)

£65,000 + Bonus + Shares

Method Resourcing are working with a fast-growing, international IoT technology business that build mission-critical platforms and connected device solutions used across sectors where reliability, security and uptime truly matter.

They are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to take ownership of end-to-end quality across complex systems spanning cloud platforms, software services and physical hardware devices.

This is not a traditional "testing" role. It's a senior, hands-on QA engineering position where quality is embedded into engineering, DevOps and SRE, from design through to production.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning end-to-end test strategy for one or more products
  • Designing and delivering manual and automated test coverage across:
  • Platform services
  • Business systems
  • User-facing tools
  • Physical IoT devices / hardware
  • Embedding testing into CI/CD pipelines, working closely with Software Engineers and DevOps
  • Reviewing and influencing unit testing approaches and coverage
  • Leading release readiness: validation, risk assessment and quality sign-off
  • Troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and validating fixes
  • Producing clear test outcome reports that demonstrate quality and gaps
  • Supporting and guiding other QA Engineers, sharing best practice

What they're looking for

  • Strong, hands-on experience as a Senior QA / QA Engineer
  • Deep understanding of testing methodologies, both manual and automated
  • Experience designing end-to-end test strategies, not just executing test cases
  • Comfortable working with complex, distributed systems
  • Experience testing hardware / devices is highly desirable (or a genuine interest in learning)
  • Strong communicator who can collaborate across engineering, product and delivery
  • A mindset focused on preventing defects and improving quality, not just finding bugs
  • An interest in how QA fits within SRE / DevOps environments

Why this role stands out

  • Work on real-world, critical systems where quality genuinely matters
  • High level of ownership and influence over how quality is engineered
  • A business that invests in technology, people and continuous improvement
  • Opportunity to help shape a modern, automated QA capability within a scaling organisation
