Overview
We are partnering with a highly respected national charity to recruit an experienced Technical Architect to play a key role in its digital transformation programme. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical and coding experience to deliver low-level and infrastructure architecture that aligns with the organisation's technology strategy.
The successful candidate will bring practical expertise in designing and implementing cloud-based systems, particularly in Azure and Salesforce CRM environments, and will be comfortable translating technical requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable architecture solutions.
Role Purpose
The Technical Architect will be responsible for designing and delivering technical architecture and infrastructure designs to support a wide range of transformation initiatives. Working across teams, the role involves producing detailed architectural artefacts, supporting development and delivery teams, and ensuring best practices are embedded across the technical landscape.
This role is ideal for someone with a solid coding and development background who has progressed into technical architecture and enjoys working across both strategic planning and hands-on design delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver robust low-level/infrastructure technical architectures to meet business and project needs.
- Work closely with stakeholders, business analysts, and technical teams to understand requirements and define technical solutions.
- Create and document high-quality architectural artefacts including low-level designs and interface specifications.
- Ensure architectural solutions follow security, scalability, and sustainability best practices.
- Lead the integration of systems across cloud platforms, with a particular focus on Salesforce and Azure.
- Support technical delivery teams by providing hands-on technical guidance during implementation.
- Promote architectural governance and participate in design review boards.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and provide recommendations aligned with organisational needs.
- Ensure compliance with internal architecture standards, policies, and frameworks.
- Contribute to Agile delivery processes, working within frameworks such as Scrum using Jira and Confluence.
Essential Experience and Skills
- At least 5 years' experience as a Technical Architect, with a strong coding/development background.
- Proven experience designing and delivering low-level/infrastructure architecture, particularly within Azure environments.
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce CRM architecture and integrations, including REST/SOAP APIs.
- Proficient in designing integration architectures and cloud-based systems.
- Strong technical understanding of cloud platforms and modern IT infrastructure.
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (e.g. Bitbucket, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and data governance principles.
- Excellent documentation and solution design skills.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Desirable Skills and Certifications
- Salesforce certifications such as Application Architect, System Architect, or Integration Architect.
- Familiarity with Salesforce platforms including NPSP, Experience Cloud, and Data Hub.
- Experience with cloud data tools such as Informatica IICS and Snowflake.
- Knowledge of ERP platforms such as Iris Cascade and Unit4 ERPx.
- Previous experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector.
