Infrastructure Engineer

We’re recruiting an Infrastructure Engineer to support and develop a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment for a Leicester-based organisation. This role offers broad exposure across traditional on-prem infrastructure and modern cloud platforms, with a strong focus on Azure and VMware.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for maintaining stability across the on-prem estate while helping evolve the organisation’s cloud environment in line with best practice. Working alongside infrastructure and service teams, you’ll handle day-to-day support, escalations and improvements across both on-prem and cloud systems, as well as contributing to upgrades and technical change.
Responsibilities
- Supporting on-prem infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
- Administering VMware hosts and virtual machines within the on-prem environment
- Managing patching, firmware upgrades and lifecycle activities across on-prem servers
- Supporting enterprise storage and backup platforms, including recovery testing
- Maintaining and developing Azure infrastructure across virtual machines, storage and networking
- Supporting hybrid connectivity between on-prem systems and Azure cloud services
- Acting as an escalation point for incidents impacting both on-prem and cloud platforms
- Producing documentation and contributing to service and platform improvements
Qualifications
- Experience in an infrastructure or systems engineering role
- Strong background supporting on-prem Microsoft infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with VMware in a production environment
- Practical experience supporting or administering Azure cloud infrastructure
- Comfortable working across hybrid on-prem and cloud environments
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Required Skills
- PowerShell scripting for automation
- Experience with Veeam, Rubrik or similar backup platforms
- Exposure to DR testing or failover exercises
- Microsoft Azure or VMware certifications

Pay range and compensation package
Up to £45,000 salary
