IT Support Technician

Location: Cambridge (CB25)
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £24,000 - £25,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about technology and enjoy helping people solve technical issues? Polytec are looking for an IT Support Technician to join a leading organisation looking to expand their team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who's looking for hands-on experience, you'll be delivering high-quality end-to-end support across desktop services, ensuring excellent service aligned with internal SLAs. This is a dynamic role offering variety every day - from handling service desk requests to getting involved with infrastructure projects that contribute to the continuous improvement of IT services.

Responsibilities
* Triage and prioritise desktop support incidents based on business impact
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues via phone, email, and in-person
* Own and manage support requests through to resolution, collaborating with team members to share knowledge
* Diagnose and resolve both hardware and software faults
* Maintain the reliable operation of end-user IT equipment (PCs, laptops, mobile phones)
* Support Microsoft 365 applications and user-related queries
* Carry out scheduled maintenance in line with internal procedures
* Evaluate new products and technologies with a focus on security, cost, and long-term value

Requirements
* Level 3 Information Communication Technician certificate (or equivalent) and GCSEs in Maths and English
* Entry-level experience in IT service delivery
* Familiarity with help desk/ticketing systems
* Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills
* Excellent verbal communication
* Analytical mindset with good problem-solving abilities
* Self-motivated and proactive in delivering top-notch support
* Flexible, adaptable, and a true team player
* Friendly, approachable, and professional with a sense of humour
