Risk Analyst (Third Parties) Utilities Hybrid: 2-3 days per week onsite in Wokingham 6 months+ £600 per day

In short: We're seeking a Risk Analyst with experience of assessing third parties to join a personnel security function who assesses, approves and then takes someone through security cleared vetting for a large energy company. Being able to perform risk assessments to a very competent level is essential.

Role Purpose

As a Personnel Security Analyst, you'll play an important role in the delivery of personnel security and National Security Vetting across our business. You'll be the first point of contact for applicants undergoing NSV vetting and will liaise with Government departments providing clear communication and information flow throughout the vetting application lifecycle.

You will work across all levels of the organisation providing a risk-based approach to personnel security. You'll maintain effective quality control and audit systems, making sure all information is documented and appropriately retained. You'll need an appreciation of how this works, although we can teach you the details.

You'll have the opportunity to develop existing processes to meet the needs of the new business. You'll have freedom to streamline and automate existing processes, so it is essential we recruit someone like you who is analytical with advanced MS office skills.

You will also assess and escalate Exception Risk Assessment (ERA) cases where policy dispensation requests are made.

Of course, bringing all this information together requires a strong analytical mind and the ability to condense information into translatable format. Experience of producing impactful MI reports would be a definite advantage. It would be beneficial if you are experienced with Microsoft Forms and Microsoft Power Automate.

You'll have to be structured and considered in your approach, and happy communicating and building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for the processing of National Security Vetting applications, including validation & submission, processing, and aftercare.

Responsible for maintaining National Security Vetting records, including quality control and audit.

Responsible for Exception Risk Assessment process handling policy dispensations

Responsible for liaising with Government departments to process vetting applications and ensure systems and processes continue to meet policy requirements

Responsible for the development of relationships and ways of working with key vendors.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience of and a high level of competence in, administrative tasks gained through working in an office-based or other relevant environment.

Experience of stakeholder management and customer service provision.

An understanding of the principles of data protection and a strong commitment to confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive personal or organisational data.

A high level of competence with MS Office 365 products, including MS Word and MS Excel.

A proven ability to deliver an 'at volume' service consistently and at pace, whilst adhering to service and policy standards.

Desirable Capabilities

A background in personnel security, particularly a knowledge of either background screening or National Security Vetting processes and administration tasks.

Experience in delivering presentations, training, and briefings in a professional environment.

This role is subject to National Security Vetting (NSV) in addition to our standard background checks being undertaken. National Security Vetting requires that you meet the Minimum Residency Criteria (MRC). You will have lived continuously in the United Kingdom for the required period of time, which in this case is 5 years.
