The role As the Commercial Legal Counsel at Prolific, you'll lead our commercial contracting work and provide clear, pragmatic legal support across the business. You'll work closely with Sales, Partnerships, Services and other key stakeholders to drive efficient contracting, enable growth, and help teams make informed decisions. What you'll be doing in the role
- Lead on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts with clients, suppliers, and partners.
- Maintain and improve standard terms, templates, and contracting processes to speed up deal cycles.
- Support RFPs and tender submissions, particularly for government and academic institutions.
- Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders.
- Develop contracting playbooks, training materials, and scalable legal workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and other key stakeholders to support commercial aims and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate work with external counsel when needed.
- Advise on broader commercial matters as they arise, including marketing, IP, and consumer issues.
- 6+ years PQE; UK or EU qualified (US-qualified also considered).
- Significant experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements (in-house or private practice).
- Confident engaging with counterparties across the UK, US, and Europe.
- Experience supporting RFPs/tenders, ideally including public sector and academia.
- Ability to streamline contracting processes and develop playbooks, templates, and training.
- Strong communicator able to translate legal issues clearly for non-legal stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently and under pressure, with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Some working knowledge of employment law and worker/employee status
