IT Support Engineer Apprentice

Overview:

An opportunity has become available for an IT Support Engineer Apprentice to join the growing IT Department. The role will cover a broad area of tasks and duties but will primarily focus on helpdesk support. You will be working closely with first- and second-line engineers.

This is a training role, contributing to delivery of quality communication, technical support and implementation services to our customers. We focus on supporting our customers in making the best use of technology in their business, in particular (but not limited to) Microsoft products and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st line internal helpdesk support to all users across all sites
  • Respond to IT support queries in person, over the phone, email and helpdesk application
  • Respond to enquiries from users and help resolve any hardware/software requests
  • Carry out daily systems checks
  • Pre-build PC's and maintain the standard build image, suggesting improvement where required
  • Work to Company and departmental SLA’s and KPI’s
  • Monitor system alerts and either resolve, close or escalate
  • Check daily backups across all sites, escalate any issues

Desirable skills:

  • Flexible, pro-active approach with 'hands on' approach
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware set-up
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows 11
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Any exposure to Windows server and networking would be desirable

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:

Flexible working hours, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5pm with 30-minute lunch.
