About the Role

This long-term supply assignment involves taking on the full responsibilities of a permanent department member. The successful professional will be essential in maintaining momentum and driving high standards within the Computing department through the academic year. The professional will plan, prepare, and deliver an engaging and challenging Computing curriculum across Key Stages, fostering a love for Computer Science and digital literacy.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Up-to-date, comprehensive knowledge of the current Computing curriculum and GCSE/A-Level exam specifications.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written skills for engaging with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: The capacity to quickly assimilate into a new department, follow school policies, and pick up ongoing schemes of work.
  • Resilience & Growth Mindset: A personal commitment to continuous professional development and overcoming challenges in a busy secondary environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver High-Quality Lessons: Plan and deliver highly effective, engaging Computing lessons to all assigned classes across various Key Stages.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Assess, monitor, record, and report on the progress and development of all students.
  • Curriculum Contribution: Contribute to the ongoing development and review of the departmental curriculum resources and schemes of work.
  • Behaviour Management: Maintain high standards for student conduct, managing classroom dynamics positively and effectively.
  • Feedback and Intervention: Provide effective, timely feedback and implement intervention strategies to ensure strong student progress.
  • Pastoral Support: Act as a tutor, offering pastoral support and guidance to a designated group of students.
  • Parental Engagement: Engage proactively with parents/carers regarding student progress, well-being, and academic targets.
  • Professional Development: Participate fully in departmental meetings, school-wide CPD, and training sessions.
  • Resource Management: Ensure the proper maintenance and inventory of classroom equipment and digital resources, reporting any technical issues .
  • Safeguarding Compliance: Adhere strictly to and enforce the school's Child Protection and Safeguarding policies at all times.
