Lead Data Analyst
A large public-service broadcaster is entering an exciting new period of transformation. With a mission centred around informing, educating, and inspiring wide and diverse audiences, the organisation is investing heavily in modernising its capabilities and designing systems fit for the next generation.
To support these goals, they are seeking a talented Lead Data Analyst to play a key role in modernising the organisation’s financial modelling, data processes, and analytical capabilities.
This is an initial 6-month contract based out of central London (other locations potentially available) and they are able to offer hybrid working of 1 or 2 days a week in the office with occasional travel to other sites. The daily rate for the role is between £500 to £550 per day via an Umbrella company (inside IR35).
The Role
This role is critical in transforming complex financial and operational data into insight. You will analyse and extract information from an existing financial model—some of which may contain structural inefficiencies—and design a new, user-friendly and scalable model suited for modern business needs.
You will also support the migration of data into analytical platforms such as Power BI and develop dashboards and reporting tools that enable senior leaders to make confident, data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Extract and interpret data from existing financial and operational models.
- Design and build a new, robust and scalable financial model.
- Migrate and transform datasets into modern analytical tools (e.g., Power BI) ensuring accuracy and usability.
- Develop dashboards, reports and visual insights for business decision-making.
- Conduct scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support forecasting and strategy.
- Collaborate with finance, strategy and operational teams to understand requirements and deliver tailored analytics.
- Identify gaps and propose improvements to enhance data integrity and reporting processes.
- Translate complex data into clear and accessible insights for stakeholders at all levels.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior colleagues who may have differing needs and priorities.
- Support non-data-specialists in understanding how analysis supports wider organisational goals.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Proven experience in building financial models from scratch.
- Proficiency in Power BI and advanced Excel.
- Experience in scenario planning, financial forecasting and sensitivity analysis.
- Creative, solutions-focused thinker capable of approaching challenges from different angles.
- Strong financial acumen and an understanding of business drivers.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when presenting to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with poorly structured data and improving data quality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective time-management and delegation skills.
- Ability to break down complex problems into manageable components and address them systematically.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and manage expectations of senior stakeholders at Director level.
