In this role, you will define and execute the strategic vision for Sainsbury’s data ecosystem, including ingestion, storage, data dictionaries, and automation tools, supporting data engineers, data scientists, and analytics use cases. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams and data scientists, support senior stakeholders, and work across functions to foster a community spirit. Strong technical literacy and interpersonal skills are essential to translate complex data platform needs into actionable strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing data capabilities, AI, or ML products and platforms.
- Working with engineers, architects, and third parties to build software using agile practices.
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels and driving consensus.
- Developing roadmaps and backlogs for products aligned with business metrics (OKRs).
- Leading end-to-end product delivery, prioritizing activities to meet product goals.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes and influence priorities.
- Launching new product features and maximizing re-use across the business.
- Evaluating and selecting third-party technology and vendors.
- Managing live product incidents, prioritizing and resolving issues efficiently.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
- Strong understanding of data and experience with AI/ML platforms.
- Familiarity with agile delivery and modern engineering practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly and generate energy within teams.
- Experience in developing product strategies, roadmaps, and customer experiences.
