Outside IR35, £350 a day, 6 months, mostly remote.

Contract: 6 months
Location: London
Fully remote, Hybrid, on-site: Remote 75%
Travel Requirements, if any: Occasional travel to Paddington & London.

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Transmode Engineer with in-depth knowledge of XTM (Cross-Connect Transport Module) systems and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the management and optimization of transport networks, ensuring high performance and reliability. Additionally, the candidate should possess the ability to evaluate the impact of ceasing a service on network operations and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain DWDM networks and XTM systems to ensure seamless data transmission.
- Monitor network performance, conduct troubleshooting, and resolve issues related to transport networks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess network requirements and provide solutions tailored to business needs.
- Analyze the impact of service cessation on network infrastructure, including potential risks and mitigation strategies.
- Prepare technical documentation, including network design layouts and operational procedures.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to optical networking and transport solutions.
- Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and other team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Proven experience with XTM systems and DWDM technology.
- Strong understanding of optical networking principles and practices.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in relevant networking technologies (eg, Cisco, Juniper).
- Experience with network design and architecture.
- Knowledge of network security principles and practices.
Work Environment:
This position may require occasional travel to various network sites.
