IT Systems Manager

Purpose of Role

As Systems Manager, you will manage, implement, and maintain various company systems and infrastructures across our global offices. The focus of the Systems Manager role will be to ensure the robustness and reliability of technology systems, network access, and backup systems, as well as managing the smooth operation of the infrastructure within the business.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role in a busy environment, so candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and prioritise workload. Due to the requirements of this role, this is an office-based position within our Lancaster office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all systems - hardware, software, telephony, and networks.
  • Oversee day-to-day system operations, on-premises networks, and server infrastructure.
  • To support the management and delivery of projects according to the company’s plans.
  • To manage an accurate log of all IT Inventory throughout our global offices, ensuring that all offices are stocked and items are kept in a clean, efficient, organised and tidy location.
  • Develop and manage technology policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to employees throughout the company.
  • Manage systems disaster recovery and business continuity - develop, test, and invoke plans to ensure systems, data, and other technologies are always available.
  • Manage events and monitoring systems across all platforms.
  • Manage system policies and procedures and regularly review them to ensure they are fit for purpose in line with ISO 27001 and other security frameworks.
  • Manage a small team of engineers across offices to ensure best-in-class support in line with ITIL principles.

Skills Required

  • Has 3-5 years of being a Systems Manager.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and server technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Office, particularly Exchange and SharePoint.
  • Strong working knowledge of layer 2 and 3 networks, IPS/IDS firewalls, backups and Sage applications.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with excellent problem-solving skills.

Ideal Candidate

  • A computer science degree.
  • Excellent communication skills to all levels of the business and all technical abilities.
  • An interest in DevOps tools/techniques.
