Ads Monetisation Director (mobile games)

Role Summary

We are working with a company who are hiring a senior leader to take ownership of advertising monetisation across a portfolio of live mobile games. This role is responsible for setting direction, driving performance, and ensuring the stability of a large-scale in-app advertising business.

The position carries accountability for a substantial annual ad revenue stream and requires a strong balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. Success in this role depends on deep analytical capability, technical fluency in the mobile ad ecosystem, and the ability to work closely with product, data, and engineering teams to deliver sustainable revenue growth without harming the player experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve advertising monetisation strategy across multiple live mobile titles.
  • Take full ownership of ad revenue performance, including monitoring, optimisation, and rapid response to any unexpected changes in revenue or delivery.
  • Investigate and resolve revenue volatility by identifying root causes across networks, mediation setup, formats, geographies, and user segments.
  • Lead development and optimisation of the ad technology stack, including mediation configuration, bidding and waterfall logic, and experimentation with new ad formats or tools.
  • Use large-scale performance data to inform decisions, turning metrics such as CPM, fill rate, and revenue per user into concrete actions.
  • Partner closely with product, user acquisition, data, and engineering teams to improve ad placement, segmentation, and overall monetisation design.
  • Build and develop a high-performing ads and ad operations function, providing clear direction, coaching, and accountability.
  • Manage senior relationships with advertising partners and networks, ensuring strong commercial outcomes, fast issue resolution, and compliance with platform standards.

Experience & Skills

  • Significant experience in ad monetisation, ad technology, or performance marketing within mobile applications or games.
  • Proven track record of owning and growing large-scale in-app advertising revenue.
  • Deep understanding of mediation platforms, bidding and waterfall models, and network optimisation.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and make confident decisions.
  • Comfortable operating in high-responsibility environments where revenue stability is critical.
  • Strong communicator able to work effectively with senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Experience collaborating with data, product, and engineering teams on scalable monetisation systems.

Additional Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Experience overseeing monetisation for high-performing mobile titles or large app portfolios.
  • Exposure to advanced optimisation techniques such as predictive modelling or machine-learning-driven decision making.
  • Working with SQL
