Azure Cloud Engineer

Do you live in or around the Salisbury area and have a background as an IT Systems engineer. We have an exciting perm opportunity to work for the leading Industry Partner for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), managing and maintaining the Defence Training Estate (DTE). With a new 10-year contract (TESC) with DIO commencing from 2024, they are at the forefront of delivering exceptional services. Their Information and Technology Department is crucial in supporting our mission by delivering, supporting, and maintaining all user-facing IT services, enabling their team to excel in their roles

You will currently hold SC/DV Clearance, or be eligible to undertake. The client will sponsor SC clearance if not already held

This role is commutable from Devizes, Basingstoke, Andover, Bath, Amesbury, Swindon, Trowbridge, Chippenham, Marlborough.

Due to remote location own transport is essential and candidates MUST BE local to site.

This role is part of the Technology Operations team within the IT Department. This is a cloud focused infrastructure role primarily supporting Microsoft Azure cloud. The role will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting cloud solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform, with a focus on security, stability and scalability of services to meet business needs.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working in cloud environments, with a focus on Microsoft Azure
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
• ITIL v4 Foundation
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services including:
• Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Azure Active Directory
• Azure Key Vault, Azure Security Center, Azure Policy
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Redhat OpenShift or other container services
• Proficiency in Scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and automation
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (VPN, DNS, Firewalls, load balancers)
• Understanding of cloud identity, access control, and security (RBAC, MFA, conditional access)
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
• Proficient in Microsoft operating systems and applications, including Windows Server 2016 to 2025, Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365.
• Strong knowledge and experience in Service Management/Service Desk tools to capture, manage, resolve and report on IT Service tickets (incidents, requests, problems, etc.)
