Senior Forms Designer 2 YR FTC

The role

As part of our Web and Digital Team, you will lead the strategic direction of form design across council services, ensuring our digital forms are accessible, intuitive, and aligned with government standards. You’ll mentor team members, drive innovation, and contribute to digital transformation initiatives that make a real difference.

What you'll be doing:

  • Define and lead the form design strategy across council services
  • Mentor and coach junior form designers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Represent Southwark in external communities of practice and professional networks
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and prioritisation of form design work
  • Set and maintain standards for usability, accessibility (WCAG), and GDPR compliance
  • Oversee the development and integration of new eForms and workflows
  • Monitor form performance and use analytics to inform design decisions
  • Deliver training and onboarding for internal eForm owners and service teams
  • Act as the primary liaison with business partners and suppliers for issue resolution and service improvements

What you'll bring:

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Forms Designer with a passion for user-centred digital services. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Advanced understanding of Government Digital Standards (GDS) design patterns
  • Strategic knowledge of digital transformation and service design
  • Expertise in form logic, including branching, validation, and secure data handling
  • Strong leadership and mentoring experience within design teams
  • Experience influencing service design and contributing to digital policy
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Skilled in prototyping tools (e.g. Miro, Figma, Sketch) and form builders
  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field

Additional details

This role is fixed term for 2 years. Any internal employees are encouraged to seek agreement from their substantive line manager if considering this is as a secondment opportunity.

Full time, 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with time split between working from home and from Tooley Street offices a minimum of 2 days per week. The role may require occasional work outside normal office hours and at different venues to meet service needs. The role is not open to job share.
