Job Title: OpenShift Administrator
Location: Sheffield (3 days onsite per week required)
Salary/Rate: £450 per day Inside IR35
Start Date: 01/01/2026

Introduction:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced OpenShift Administrator to support the installation, configuration, and ongoing management of OpenShift environments across a large-scale technical landscape.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives:
  • In this role, you will ensure OpenShift platforms are secure, reliable, and running at optimal performance through proactive administration and continuous improvement.
  • Install, configure, and maintain OpenShift clusters across on-premises, hybrid, or cloud-based environments.
  • Carry out upgrades, patching, and scaling activities to ensure the platform meets operational and performance requirements.
  • Monitor cluster health, performance, and utilisation, taking a proactive approach to maintenance and issue resolution.
  • Manage platform security, including user access, policies, and resource allocations.
  • Integrate OpenShift with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and wider enterprise technologies.
  • Automate recurring administrative tasks using Scripting languages and configuration management tools.
  • Ensure all OpenShift environments adhere to required security, regulatory, and operational standards.
  • Provide support for incidents, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis related to OpenShift platforms.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Proven experience in installing, configuring, and administering OpenShift clusters.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and Linux operating systems.
  • Good knowledge of networking principles, storage solutions, and security best practices.
  • Experience with automation and IaC tools such as Ansible and Terraform, along with Scripting skills in Bash or Python.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions, including Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
  • Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
