Role Overview

A specialist delivery organisation is seeking a Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of technology-led construction projects within the built environment. The role sits within a design-and-build delivery team and carries full responsibility for programme, cost, quality, and safety from bid stage through to final handover.

Projects involve the coordination and delivery of systems-based solutions, including digital infrastructure, connected building technologies, and integrated technical systems. Success in the role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across the full project lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

1. Bid & Pre-Contract Support

  • Provide delivery and operational input during tender and pre-sales activities
  • Support bid reviews and project sign-off for allocated work packages
  • Contribute to early resource planning, programme development, and cost inputs

2. Pre-Construction & Planning

  • Define project methodology, roles, and responsibilities at project initiation
  • Coordinate internal technical and delivery resources to meet programme requirements
  • Manage pre-construction documentation, procurement planning, and labour forecasting
  • Develop, issue, and maintain detailed project programmes
  • Lead the design coordination process, identifying gaps between scope, contract, and client requirements
  • Establish key milestones, procurement schedules, cash flow forecasts, and valuation timelines

3. Project Delivery & Execution

  • Manage construction-phase and as-built documentation
  • Ensure delivery against agreed milestones, sectional completions, and handover dates
  • Coordinate on-site resource requirements with operational teams
  • Plan and deliver works in line with specifications, statutory requirements, and site rules
  • Coordinate specialist technical disciplines across networking, security, and audiovisual systems
  • Undertake and record quality inspections throughout delivery
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of O&M manuals and project documentation
  • Prepare financial forecasts, valuations, and progress reports
  • Monitor project financial performance and participate in regular review meetings

4. Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for project-related communications
  • Manage escalation and resolution of project issues
  • Represent the business in meetings, progress reviews, and presentations
  • Manage subcontractors and specialist partners with clearly defined scopes and deliverables

5. Project Close-Out & Handover

  • Coordinate testing, commissioning, certification, and training activities
  • Ensure all documentation is completed, approved, and issued for handover
  • Support transition to operational or support teams
  • Contribute to post-project reviews and lessons-learned exercises

6. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce safe working practices across all project activities
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, site safety, and statutory requirements
  • Manage incident, accident, and near-miss reporting
  • Oversee PPE compliance, material storage, and waste management
  • Champion a proactive safety culture throughout the project lifecycle

Knowledge & Experience

  • End-to-end project delivery from pre-construction through to handover
  • Design coordination, testing, commissioning, snagging, and documentation processes
  • Commercial control including cost, margin, and cash flow management
  • Health and safety risks associated with installation works and appropriate mitigation
  • Structured cabling, copper and fibre infrastructure, and wireless networks
  • Awareness of connected building technologies and emerging digital systems

Skills & Capability

  • Strong IT proficiency and confidence with project reporting tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop, manage, and recover project programmes
  • High standards of quality control and documentation management
  • Strong financial reporting and commercial awareness
  • Competence producing and managing RAMS and site safety documentation

Qualifications & Certifications

Essential

  • Relevant industry card or equivalent
  • Recognised project management qualification
  • Site management safety certification
  • Full driving licence
  • Competence with testing and reporting software

Desirable

  • First Aid certification
  • Access equipment certification (e.g. mobile towers or powered access)
  • Electrical testing or inspection qualifications

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable project management role
  • Experience delivering digital or ICT infrastructure projects
  • Hands-on knowledge of copper and fibre installations

Desirable

  • Familiarity with containment systems
  • Exposure to audiovisual, electronic security, IoT, or integrated network solutions
