Overview of the Finance Controller:

Are you ready to take full ownership of a growing finance function and shape the future of financial operations for a high-performing business in the tech and services sector?

We’re looking for an experienced Finance Lead/Controller to head up finance operations at a key North West site of a well-established organisation, part of a respected global group. This is more than a financial controller role – it's a unique opportunity to embed yourself in a high-impact leadership position, drive change, and elevate the finance function as the business continues to scale.

In this newly created role, you’ll be the most senior finance presence on site, overseeing an established team of 8 and acting as a strategic partner to the UK&I Head of Finance. You’ll be instrumental in implementing robust financial controls, building reporting structures from the ground up, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Your leadership will directly influence business performance across the UK&I region, ensuring finance doesn’t just report the numbers—but helps shape them.

Finance Controller Duties:
  • Lead day-to-day operations for the on-site Finance team in Northwich (8 FTEs), including 2 direct reports.
  • Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting in line with US GAAP and internal accounting standards.
  • Own and lead the statutory audit process, managing relationships with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Drive improvements in financial controls, governance, and risk management.
  • Work closely with FP&A to enhance financial reporting and performance insights that drive smarter decisions.
  • Serve as the finance escalation point for regional and global stakeholders.
  • Coach, develop and inspire your team to foster a high-performance, solutions-focused culture.
Experience Needed / What's in your DNA?
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA), ideally with a practice-trained background.
  • Proven track record in finance control roles within a fast-moving, commercial environment.
  • Experience working under US GAAP frameworks and strong understanding of VAT and Corporation Tax.
  • Demonstrated success in ERP implementations or finance systems transformations.
  • Strong grasp of internal controls, audit readiness, and risk mitigation.
  • Exceptional communication skills—you simplify the complex and challenge with confidence.
  • A natural relationship-builder who thrives in leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
