Information Governance Manager for Research
Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for any talented Information Governance colleagues to fulfil a temporary post and gain valuable experience in the NHS health research space. As the IG Manager for Research, the post holder will provide highly specialist advice within the information governance team contributing towards meeting information governance, data protection and privacy standards including the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and reducing information risks.
The post holder will be required to deputise for the Head of Information Governance as required. The post-holder will be expected to work with various members of staff across the organisation, external agencies, and patients and the general public.
Knowledge of research processes is desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
The Information Governance Manager works as part of the Information Governance and Data Protection team supporting the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection, and is responsible for:
o Leading in the delivery of objectives within the Information Governance agendao Deputising for the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer as requiredo Be a subject matter specialist in information governance topics to provide effective and timely advice to Trust staff on all aspects of Information Governance through the management of formal communication channelso Act as primary contact for all research queries from our Joint Research Officeo Providing support to the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer in the development of the Trusts Information Governance strategic framework and regulatory requirements, e.g., data protection and security toolkit and ensuring the compliance of the research departmento Delivery of the Information Governance Trust-wide programme of training and communicationso Overseeing the Records and Information Governance Group is administered appropriatelyo Supporting the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer in providing assurance to the Trust Board on Data Protection issues, including the Annual Governance Statement, the DSP Toolkit submission, and any Well-led review.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Professional qualification(s) in informationgovernance field(s).
- Knowledge of Data Security and Protection Toolkit, DPA, FOIA and security standards
- Knowledge of the NHS information governance framework
- Professional accreditation or equivalent experience in a specialist discipline
Experience
- Knowledge of IG and its interaction with complex information systems.
- IG experience (at least 2 years) in a team within an NHS or equivalent healthcare setting
- Experience of implementing organisation-wide IG policies and procedures.
- Experienceofdevelopingandimplementingrecords management training and awareness programmes for staff.
- Experience of gaining and maintaining a clear understanding of business objectives
- Thorough knowledge of the NHS Information Governance Agenda and the NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit
- Experience of cross-team and cross-discipline working with multiple organisations, external agencies and organisations
- Dealing with members of the public
- Knowledge of research practices as they relate to information governance in the health research sector
Skills, Abilities, Knowledge

- Specialist understanding or experience of IG issues relating to supporting healthcare systems
- Presenting to and persuading large groups of (often senior) managers and conveying complex concepts clearly and persuasively
