Business Analyst
**Please note this role is a 18 month FTC**
We are searching for an experienced IT Business Analyst who will play a vital role in supporting a major Public Ownership Transfer programme. Working closely with the Public Ownership Transfer team, you will ensure the IT workstream is effectively scoped, well-designed, and achievable, supporting both the transition phase and post–Day 1 operations.
During the first six months, the role will focus heavily on assessment and discovery—reviewing current systems, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, and producing clear proposals and recommendations. You will engage extensively across the organisation, gathering requirements from a large and diverse stakeholder group and translating these into structured plans, documentation, and future-state processes.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Public Ownership Transfer team to define, scope, and shape the IT workstream.
- Gather and analyse business and technical requirements to support transition activities and post–Day 1 operations.
- Coordinate and manage all IT-related data and information requests from the Department for Transport and Public Ownership Programme teams.
- Conduct a detailed assessment of existing IT systems, identifying what is working well, what is not, and where improvements are required.
- Develop proposals and recommendations to support the creation of a migration roadmap and forward-looking IT plan.
- Engage with approximately 80 senior stakeholders and Heads of Function across the organisation to gather system, process, and functional requirements.
- Create a comprehensive list of IT systems and functions based on stakeholder input and analysis.
- Assess risks, dependencies, and operational impacts, providing clear and evidence-based recommendations.
- Produce high-quality documentation to establish and embed a consistent Business Analysis process going forward.
- Support change management and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with programme objectives.
- Present findings, options, and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders, adapting messaging to suit technical and non-technical audiences.
