Network Security Engineer (Endpoint & Browser Isolation)/Hybrid/London
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join an Endpoint Security team within a leading global financial services firm. This is a high-level operational (BAU) role focused on supporting and troubleshooting a Menlo Security browser isolation solution.
The successful candidate will act as a technical point of escalation for complex support tickets, ensuring seamless secure web browsing for end-users. You will investigate the entire transaction path-from the desktop icon to the Firewall-to resolve connectivity and performance issues.
Core Responsibilities
- Operational Support: Provide L2/L3 support for the browser isolation environment, investigating and resolving tickets where users cannot connect to or use the secure browsing service.
- Network & Firewall Management: Carry out necessary changes to Firewalls and network equipment to resolve identified connectivity issues.
- Incident Diagnosis: Troubleshoot the full transaction life cycle, identifying whether faults lie within the local network, the isolation layer, or the web application architecture.
- Collaboration: Work closely with security analysts and wider infrastructure teams to maintain compliance with security policies.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation for network configurations and troubleshooting processes.
Technical Requirements
Network Expertise (Advanced): Proficient in configuring and managing Routers, Switches, and Firewalls. Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
Web Architecture Knowledge: Intermediate understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required to diagnose browser behaviour and identifies issues within the isolation environment.
Security & Isolation: Experience with Menlo Security or similar browser isolation/Proxy products (eg, Zscaler, Symantec BlueCoat).
Automation & Scripting: Ability to work within a highly automated environment; Scripting skills (Python/Bash) are beneficial for identifying issues.
Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills to resolve complex L2/L3 issues that cannot be handled by a standard helpdesk.
Desirable Attributes
Sector Experience: Previous experience working within the financial services sector.
Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking/security certifications.
Communication: Ability to explain technical resolutions clearly to stakeholders and document changes effectively.
