Systems Accountant Location: Hybrid – Oxford (1-2 days in office)Salary: £55,000 – £62.700 per annum + excellent pension

About the Job An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Accountant to join the finance team, focusing on the optimisation of financial systems and processes. You’ll be the go-to person for ensuring that the organisation's accounting software is running at full capability, while also improving process efficiency and system integration across departments.
Duties will include:

Owning and maintaining the chart of accounts to ensure alignment with reporting requirements

Designing and documenting procedures to fully optimise system functionality

Providing training and support to finance colleagues on system usage

Leading month-end and year-end system closure processes

Collaborating with IT and system providers to manage upgrades and troubleshoot issues

Identifying opportunities for automation and continuous improvement

Working closely with the business systems to ensure strategic alignment

Staying updated with relevant regulations and public sector accounting standards
About the Successful Applicant You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in a systems-focused role. You’ll bring strong technical expertise in accounting systems, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to lead change. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to train and support users confidently.
