System Administrator – Technology

A UK media organisation is seeking a System Administrator to join its Technology team. This role supports the organisation's IT infrastructure, which underpins both corporate services and broadcast systems delivering programme output.

The role is primarily office based. There will be requirements to work offsite and outside of business hours at short notice for deployment projects and larger events.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering system scoping, research, design, implementation, documentation, and handover for assigned work
  • Working with system suppliers to keep systems up to date and aligned with best practice
  • Supporting and maintaining IT, broadcast, network, IPTV, and telephony systems
  • Aiding in advanced troubleshooting and diagnosis of corporate and broadcast systems
  • Installing and configuring IT, broadcast, network, IPTV, and telephony related systems
  • Defining and carrying out test procedures to ensure systems function as expected
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation, including user and equipment lists
  • Providing on-site assistance at special events
  • Carrying out hardware tasks such as server installation, component replacement, racking, and cabling

What we're looking for

  • Experience identifying system changes and verifying technical specifications against business requirements
  • Experience working in mid-sized or large organisations supporting complex estates
  • Strong experience supporting Apple devices, including macOS and iOS/iPadOS
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management platforms, with Microsoft Intune preferred and comparable tools also acceptable
  • Good knowledge of IP networking, including switches, routers, copper, and fibre
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft infrastructure including Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and failover clustering
  • Understanding of cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS
  • Experience managing SQL Server environments, including basic administration and troubleshooting
  • Experience building and administering Linux and Windows servers
  • Hands-on experience with IT hardware, including servers and components
  • Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Nutanix

Desirable

  • Understanding of the full project lifecycle from initiation through handover to support teams
  • Experience using ServiceNow
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Appreciation of evolving technology and industry practices
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
