Software Engineer in Test
Senior Software Engineer in Test
Enterprise SaaS Platform | Manchester | Hybrid (2 days onsite)
Salary: up to £70,000 + 10% bonus
The Opportunity
This is a chance to join a high-growth, enterprise SaaS organisation building complex, high-throughput platforms used at scale across the UK and Europe. Quality Engineering is treated as a core engineering discipline, not a support function.
As the platform scales, the business is investing in engineers who can engineer quality in from day one — not test at the end.
The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, you’ll operate as a true engineer within a product-aligned squad. You’ll own automation-first testing across cloud-native, API-driven systems and play a key role in shaping how quality is embedded across the wider platform.
This is a hands-on role with real influence — not a test-lead-by-proxy position.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and delivering robust test strategies aligned to product and platform goals
- Building and evolving automated test frameworks across UI, API, integration, and performance
- Driving a culture of automation-by-default and continuous improvement
- Testing complex, distributed systems and high-volume integrations
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and release confidence
- Partnering closely with Software Engineers and Product teams
- Mentoring junior engineers and raising quality standards across squads
What They’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong coding background (C# preferred)
- Automation experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar
- Solid API testing experience (REST, Postman, SoapUI)
- Experience working in Agile, product-led teams
- Cloud exposure (Azure or AWS)
Nice to Have
- Docker / containerised test environments
- Performance testing (k6 or similar)
- Experience testing complex integrations and platform systems
Why This One’s Different
- Up to £70k base + 10% bonus
- Hybrid working – Manchester, 2 days onsite
- Long-term SaaS product, not short-term projects
- Real ownership, autonomy, and technical influence
- Clear progression for senior engineers who want depth, not people management
