Learning Support Coach (Apprenticeships)

🚀 We’re expanding our apprenticeship operations and are hiring a Learning Support Coach to help apprentices stay engaged, overcome blockers, and succeed academically and professionally. This is a high-impact coaching role at the heart of learner success.

You’ll be the steady hand, the motivator, and the structured support system that helps apprentices stay on track, build confidence, and reach the finish line.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Apprenticeships Team, you’ll provide structured academic, pastoral, and organisational support to ensure apprentices progress smoothly from enrolment to gateway.

Learner Support & Success

• Provide 1-1 learning support to apprentices who need help with study skills, organisation, time management, or confidence.
• Help learners interpret feedback and improve the quality of their written and practical submissions.
• Support apprentices in meeting deadlines and staying on track with their learning plans.
• Deliver wellbeing, motivation, and accountability check-ins.
• Identify learners at risk of disengagement and intervene proactively.

Academic & Skills Development

• Teach core learning skills (note-taking, academic writing, reflective practice, revision techniques).
• Coach apprentices through foundational concepts in data and digital skills (non-technical support).
• Help apprentices understand assessment requirements and expectations.
• Support learners preparing for EPA (End-Point Assessment), ensuring they're confident and ready.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

• Track learner progress using Aptem dashboards, checkpoints, and analytics.
• Maintain accurate records of support sessions, interventions, and learner needs.
• Escalate safeguarding, wellbeing concerns, or persistent disengagement to relevant teams.
• Contribute to learner progress reviews alongside Skills Coaches.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with Skills Coaches, Career Coaches, and Quality to ensure a consistent learner experience.
• Share insights on learner barriers to help refine curriculum, teaching methods, and assessments.
• Support onboarding activities to help new apprentices settle into the programme.
• Help build a supportive community environment across cohorts.

• Achieve 100% accuracy on Aptem records linked to funding.
• Build a seamless, consistent learner experience with proactive communication.
• Track attendance, OTJ hours, milestones & audit trails with precision.
• Support Technical Coaches with enrichment, interventions & learner engagement.
• Created structured learning support plans for high-needs learners.
• Established a reliable tracking and reporting rhythm with Data Coaches.
• Delivered consistent, high-quality support sessions across multiple cohorts.

🧠 You’ll Succeed Here If You Already Have

• Experience supporting learners in apprenticeships, FE, adult learning, HE, or similar environments.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, or case-management skills.
• Excellent communication and the ability to motivate learners who are struggling.
• A calm, patient, structured, and learner-centred coaching approach.
• Experience with Aptem or similar MIS platforms (desirable but not essential).
• Strong organisational skills = you can juggle multiple learners without dropping the ball.
• A genuine passion for helping adults change careers and change their lives.
