Position: Senior Management Accountant
Reporting to: Finance Director
The Role:
Our Senior Management Accountant plays a pivotal role within the finance department, overseeing accounting operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic support to senior management. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, as well as leading and developing a high-performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts for multiple entities, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team (currently 3) to achieve departmental and organisational objectives.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal preparation, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on key financial metrics, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to support business performance.
- Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to inform strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls, processes, and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Partner with non-finance stakeholders, providing guidance and training to improve financial literacy across the business.
- Collaborate with external auditors and contribute to the preparation of statutory accounts where necessary.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis to support strategic projects or decision-making.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience in management accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable working with colleagues at all levels.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
