Youllworkcloselywithcustomersandthecommercialteamatthepre-salesstage,gatheringrequirements,designingsolutionsandpresentingthosebacktothecustomerbeforetakingthetechnicalleadthroughdelivery. Itsagenuinelyhands-onconsultancyposition,butonewhereyoullhavemuchmoreownershiparoundarchitecture,customerstrategyandtechnicaldirection. Theresastronginvestmentintechnicaldevelopmenttoo,withrelevantprofessionalqualificationsandcertificationsfundedaspartoftherole. Daytoday Youllbedesigning,implementingandsupportingnetworksecuritysolutionsacrosscomplexcustomerenvironments. Thatwillincludeenterprisefirewalls,LAN/WAN,VPNs,SD-WAN,ZTNA,SASE,authenticationandwidernetworksecuritytechnologies,alongsidemaintainingastrongunderstandingofrouting,switchingandnetworkingfundamentals. Youllleadtechnicalprojectsthroughouttheirlifecycle,producingdetaileddesignsandimplementationplansbeforetakingresponsibilityforsuccessfuldelivery. Theresalsoanincreasingfocusonmodernsecurityoperations,soexposuretoareassuchasSIEM,SOARandXDRwouldbeuseful. Beyondprojectdelivery,youllactasaseniortechnicalescalationpoint,carryoutcustomersecurityauditsandhealthchecks,makerecommendationsaroundimprovingexistingenvironmentsandprovideongoingtechnicalownershipfornominatedcustomers. Youllalsohelpdevelopotherengineerswithintheteamthroughtechnicalmentoring,knowledgesharingandinternaltraining. ExperiencewithinanMSP,ISP,networkintegratororconsultancywouldtranslateparticularlywell,particularlyifyoureusedtoworkingacrossmultiplecustomersandcomplexenvironments. Youllneedtobecomfortablegatheringrequirements,producingtechnicaldesigns,presentingsolutionstocustomersandthenremaininginvolvedthroughimplementationandongoingsupport. Experiencearoundsecuritycomplianceframeworksandpublic-sectorenvironmentswouldbeuseful,aswouldexposuretoSIEM,SOAR,XDRandinfrastructureautomation. Morethananything,theywantsomebodywhocantaketechnicalownership.Someonewhocangetintothedetailwhenneeded,communicateconfidentlywithcustomersandbethepersonotherengineersturntowhenthingsgetcomplicated.
