Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Contract: 3 months (possible extension)

Location: Worcester.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join the Business Systems and Management Information Team, supporting reporting for Children’s Services. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design and delivery of innovative BI solutions that drive service improvement and statutory reporting.

You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to create dashboards, reports, and data extracts that provide timely, accurate insights. This role offers the chance to apply your technical expertise, creativity, and leadership skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, prototyping, and delivery of creative BI solutions based on business requirements.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and best practice advice to teams.
  • Manage and mentor BI Developers and Management Information Analysts.
  • Collaborate with service managers to translate requirements into actionable BI solutions.
  • Implement agile methodologies within the team and promote best practices across the organisation.
  • Research and identify new BI technologies to enhance service delivery.
  • Design and deliver solutions using SSRS and SQL, ensuring functionality across all devices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BI developments, security requirements, and data modelling techniques.
About You
  • Expert in designing, building, and testing BI solutions.
  • Strong experience in system integration and agile development methods.
  • Advanced knowledge of BI technologies (SSRS, SQL) and data modelling principles.
  • Proven ability to interpret business requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in matrix management and leading technical teams.

Desirable:

  • Experience in public sector organisations.
  • Certification in Microsoft technologies and/or Agile development techniques.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant technical/programming discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of training or certification in BI technologies and agile methodologies (desirable).
