Lead AI/ML Engineer - Computer Vision & GenAI

We're supporting a high-growth technology business at the forefront of AI innovation in sport and human performance. They're looking for a Lead AI/ML Engineer to take ownership of their applied machine learning function, with a strong focus on computer vision, automation, and generative AI.

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who wants to combine technical expertise with team management and drive the strategy for applied AI/ML across a product suite that's already impacting users worldwide.

 

There's clear scope for progression as the company scales, you could evolve into a Head of AI or senior leadership position, shaping the long-term direction of their applied AI and research strategy.

 

The role

 

  • Lead the development of computer vision models (2D/3D pose estimation, video analysis, biomechanics).
  • Apply Generative AI techniques (synthetic data, video generation, code generation, intelligent agents) to improve automation, scale, and personalisation.
  • Manage and mentor a small, specialist team.
  • Define the AI/ML innovation strategy across core products.
  • Build ML pipelines for large-scale video processing across edge and cloud.
  • Ensure robustness, accuracy, and real-time performance of deployed models.
  • Keep pace with emerging research and technologies, bringing new ideas into production.
  • Partner with domain experts to translate biomechanical data into actionable insights.

 

What we're looking for

 

  • Strong background in computer vision and video-based deep learning, (ideally pose estimation, biomechanics or human movement)
  • Proven technical leadership experience, ideally with direct reports.
  • Track record of deploying ML models into production environments.
  • Hands-on skills with TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, and Python ML frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

 

Desirable

 

  • MSc/PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI models (GANs, diffusion, LLMs).
  • Experience with MLOps and lifecycle management.
  • Experience in startups or fast-paced R&D.
