Financial Controller

Blair West are supporting a scaling tech business in Newcastle with the appointment of a Financial Controller. Working as part of a small team, the successful candidate will have a hands-on role overseeing all aspects of financial controls & analysis.

Following investment a couple of years ago, there is the opportunity to support the CFO and Board with interesting strategic projects including M&A, new service offerings & improvement of operational performance via new systems and process efficiencies.

We envisage the successful candidate will be ambitious, suitably qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with an interest in the world of technology.

The opportunity:

• Support the CFO with the delivery of strategic plans.
• Control of month-end activities – including board reporting and analysis.
• Cash flow analysis & performance review vs KPI / Budgets.
• Weekly & monthly forecasting.
• Provide finance support to the wider business through business partnering, providing and supporting with operational decision making.
• Lead & mentor the small finance team.
• Oversee financial transactions – payroll, payables, receivables.
• Drive process improvements via system and operational enhancements.
• Develop internal controls and finance governance.

You'll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

• Suitable post-qualification experience (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Experience from the tech/software sector.
• Strong analytical skills, able to manage/analyse complex financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support business decisions.
• Ambition with a strong career to date.
• Advanced skills in systems/IT skills with a modern-day approach to AI, data & tech platforms.
