Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to provide systems support to the Lung Cancer Screening Programme (LCSP) in County Durham. The purpose of the programme is to enable the early detection of lung cancer to save lives.
Were looking for a proactive and technically savvy person to help with the smooth running our clinical IT systems. Were seeking a dedicated Systems Support (Clinical Applications) to join our team.
As a Systems Support for clinical applications, you will play a vital role in providing technical administration, configuration/development and support for one or more of the Trust's Clinical IT systems. This post offers great potential for personal and career development and enables you to enhance your knowledge of healthcare and clinical IT Systems. Any experience of Radiology systems or similar would be beneficial to this role.
We are able to offer flexible/hybrid working with the ability to be based at one of several sites across County Durham, including locations in Chester-le-Street and Peterlee.
Main duties of the job
To provide systems support to the Lung Cancer Screening team, including the Systems Manager
To safely manage radiological images, ensuring patient records are correct and up to date
To ensure patient images are safely managed through Trust and third party reporting systems
To provide system support to the Lung Cancer Screening service Screening Review Meeting (MDT), including requesting and merging patient images
To develop and maintain LCSP system policies and procedural documentation
To provide troubleshooting support to the LCSP team, including monitoring and resolving systems and data quality issues, ensuring safety and quality standards are met
To support the Systems Manager in systems integration work

Job responsibilities
The post holder is an IM&T systems support whose role is to implement, maintain, and provide user support and frontline system administration technical support to LCSP and Trust systems.
The post holder will report directly to the LCSP Project Manager and work in close association with the LCSP Systems Manager. The LCSP Systems Manager will provide professional oversight, training and support.
The post holder will ensure that users receive the best possible service in terms of data quality, system availability, technical and operational support.
The successful candidate will meet the criteria published within the Job Description and Personal Specification, and ideally have demonstrable experience within a systems support environment with a drive for continued professional development. They will be customer focused, pro-active, possess strong communication skills, confident, with solid IT skills and a strong work ethic. They will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team, committed to working together in supporting our clinical service.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Higher Diploma in computer science or related discipline
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a technical environment with evidence of professional development.
- Experience of maintaining and supporting computer systems
- Use of Microsoft Office Suite
- GCSE English Language and Maths grade C or above (or comparable qualification)
- ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management
- Educated to A level standard
Experience
- Substantial experience in a technical role
- Proven experience in the development of computer based solutions
- Systems development environments
- Database environments
- Experience with computer systems and software to allow configuration changes to be managed through thorough controlled procedures and testing
- Customer Service Experience or experience in a customer facing role delivering resolutions to customer issues.
- Experience of healthcare environments
- Systems development environments
Special Skills & Knowledge
- Demonstrable skills in Structured Query Language(s) SQL
- Demonstrable skills in the use of software and software development tools.
- A sound working knowledge and understanding of computer based systems.
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques and tools.
- Able to deal with complex queries in relation to systems and data.
- Ability to analyse data from different sources and correlate discrepancies and outputs
- An ability to plan and organise workload to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate highly complex, sensitive, contentious information where there may be barriers to overcome
- Understanding of the application of modern IT solutions.

- Able to travel across Trust sites to meet the requirements of the post
