Platform Specialist - Data & Analytics

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Data & Analytics Platform Specialist to support delivery of a secure, cloud-based analytics platform within a MOD environment.

This is a delivery-focused role, not a pure architecture or advisory position. The successful candidate will contribute directly to build, configuration, and implementation, while working closely with developers, data engineers, and MOD stakeholders.

Note:

The candidate must personally build and configure a secure, cloud-based analytics platform (not just design or advise).
Experience taking platforms from POC to MVP, working with Python/SQL, dashboards, and cloud environments is essential.
It's a delivery-focused role in an MOD environment, requiring clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Please do not submit BI-only, reporting-only, or non-cleared profiles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a hands-on platform specialist on a secure cloud analytics platform
  • Contribute directly to build, configuration, and implementation
  • Support delivery from POC to MVP, considering scalability, security, and governance
  • Provide technical input across:

    • Data ingestion & transformation (SQL)

    • Notebook-based analytics (Python/R)

    • Dashboards & visualisation (Power BI/Tableau/Superset or similar)

  • Contribute to analytics over identity, access, and entitlement-related data
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support teams to become self-sufficient over time

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Active SC clearance (mandatory)
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud-based data & analytics platforms
  • Background in data engineering, analytics platforms, or data science enablement
  • Proven experience delivering POC - MVP/production
  • Understanding of security, governance, scalability, and reuse
  • Ability to simplify complexity and communicate technical trade-offs clearly

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in secure or regulated environments (MOD, defence, government)
  • Exposure to identity, access management, or security-related datasets
  • Experience supporting multiple teams on a shared analytics platform
