Information Technology Infrastructure Engineer

The Role

You will provide first-class IT Infrastructure operational support , acting as a senior technical escalation point while driving improvements across systems, platforms, and services. Working to demanding SLAs, you will play a key role in ensuring availability, security, and performance across the IT landscape.

You will also contribute to the delivery of new technologies that support strategic objectives, while managing priorities effectively and maintaining excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support technical solutions across all stages of the ITIL service lifecycle
  • Act as a senior escalation point for incidents, requests, and technical issues
  • Own incidents and escalations end-to-end through to agreed resolution
  • Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure services, processes, and procedures
  • Champion change and service enhancement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with architectural standards, security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice
  • Build strong working relationships across infrastructure, information security, wider IT teams, and third-party suppliers
  • Provide SME-level guidance, mentoring, and support to colleagues
  • Contribute to both operational and project-based work within agreed deadlines and SLAs

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years in a 3rd Line Infrastructure role
  • Senior-level operational support experience within a medium-sized enterprise
  • Experience working to recognised methodologies such as ITIL, AgilePM, or PRINCE2
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, and deliver complex workloads with internal teams and third parties
  • Experience mentoring and supporting junior colleagues

Technical Experience:

  • Microsoft Azure stack / Microsoft 365
  • Cloud architecture, performance, availability monitoring, and restoration
  • Scripting, orchestration, and automation
  • Database scripting and optimisation
  • Capacity, performance, and availability monitoring
  • Security, vulnerability management, and malware protection
  • Multi-vendor hardware build, deployment, and break-fix
  • Active Directory and Group Policy management
  • Change Management
  • Jira ITSM or equivalent ITSM tools
  • Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WAN, LAN, VLAN

Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation (v4)
  • CCNA or equivalent networking experience
  • Degree (Technology or Science) or equivalent professional experience

Desirable

  • Microsoft certifications
  • Experience with testbed or simulation platforms
