A long-standing financial services and technology firm is seeking ambitious students for a summer Strategy Analyst Internship within its Nottingham office. The recruiter’s client is known for combining data-driven decision-making with innovative approaches to customer experience, and this programme offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to both strategic thinking and hands-on analysis.

Overview of the Internship

During the ten-week placement, interns will join one of the organisation’s core strategy functions. From the outset, they will work on a meaningful commercial project that provides visibility across the business. These projects typically focus on how the company grows responsibly, supports its customers, and navigates a competitive financial landscape.

Depending on team placement, interns may be involved in:

  • Exploring new ways to attract and engage customers
  • Supporting the development of tools and insights that help customers manage money confidently and avoid fraudulent activity
  • Assisting in the creation of marketing plans that communicate the right message to the right audience
  • Evaluating credit and lending decisions to maintain a sustainable risk profile

A key element of the role involves analysing data, forming sound judgements, and learning to use analytical software. Training will be provided to help interns build confidence with coding, data manipulation, and problem-solving techniques.

By the end of the placement, interns will have the chance to present recommendations for improvements across the client’s business, supported by guidance from their team, a dedicated manager, a mentor, and an assigned buddy.

Candidate Requirements

The recruiter’s client is open to applicants from any academic discipline. What matters is the ability to demonstrate:

  • An interest in using data to identify trends, opportunities, and solutions
  • Strong numerical reasoning and creative problem-solving skills
  • Good judgement when forming conclusions or making decisions
  • Clear written and spoken communication
  • Confidence in sharing ideas and working collaboratively
  • A proactive approach to personal development and learning

Recruitment Process

The internship follows a structured, multi-stage selection journey:

  1. Initial Application: No CV screening; eligible applicants receive online assessments focused on core skills.
  2. Video Interview: A short one-way video interview.
  3. Case Interview: A virtual business case with a current Strategy Analyst.
  4. Assessment Day: An in-person session including a group exercise, a case study, and an individual interview, along with a tour of the office.

What the Client Offers

  • A comprehensive training and development programme delivered internally and through specialist external partners
  • Competitive benefits including pension, bonus, generous holiday allowance, healthcare, and optional lifestyle schemes
  • Modern, open office space featuring a gym, subsidised dining, wellbeing areas, and recreational rooms
  • Opportunities to participate in volunteering initiatives and community impact projects
  • Regular social activities, including graduate-led events and company-wide celebrations

Working Arrangements

Interns will be based in Nottingham for the full ten-week period. The client operates a hybrid model, with office attendance expected three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday). Flexible working options may be discussed depending on individual circumstances.

Commitment to Inclusion

The recruiter’s client is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that reflects the communities it serves. Applications are welcomed from individuals of all backgrounds, with particular encouragement for candidates from groups under-represented in financial services.

The organisation partners with multiple external bodies that champion equality, and also supports numerous internal networks related to ethnicity and culture, LGBTQ+ inclusion, disability and neurodiversity, gender representation, mental wellbeing, and sustainability.

Applicants requiring reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process can request support in confidence.

This internship provides a strong foundation for students who want exposure to strategy, analytics, and the intersection of finance and technology.
