We're working with a nationally significant, highly regulated organisation at the heart of the UK’s energy infrastructure to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel. This is a rare opportunity to join an in-house legal team that plays a critical role in supporting the transformation and decarbonisation of Great Britain’s energy system.
The Role
Reporting to the General Counsel, you’ll act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders across the organisation, providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and negotiating complex, high-value commercial and technology contracts
- Advising on post-contract matters including variations, disputes, exits and re-procurements
- Partnering closely with Procurement, Commercial, Technology, People and Regulatory teams
- Providing strategic advice on risk management and regulatory compliance
- Delivering legal training and contributing to knowledge-sharing and process improvement within the legal team
What We’re Looking For
- 4 - 8 years’ PQE, with in-house experience in a commercial organisation
- Background in a highly regarded private practice, with a focus on technology, telecoms or complex sourcing arrangements
- Proven experience supporting significant technology or outsourcing transactions, pre- and post-contract
- Commercial, solutions-focused and comfortable operating in a regulated environment
- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging with senior leadership
- Resilient, adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving organisation
- Exposure to government or a regulator is desirable but not essential
