CCTV & Access Control Engineer
Your Company: A well-established provider of advanced communication, safety, and security solutions is seeking a CCTV & Access Control Engineer to join its growing service and engineering team. The business designs, installs, and supports integrated security and communication systems for a wide-ranging customer base, including public sector organisations, commercial environments, enterprise facilities, and large-scale event spaces.Working with leading global technology partners, the organisation delivers end-to-end solutions across video surveillance, access control, intruder detection, critical communications, and integrated security platforms. The team is known for its high standards, collaborative approach, and commitment to delivering reliable, future-ready security solutions.Your Role and Responsibilities While in this position your duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Install, service, maintain, fault-find, and repair IP-based CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems across customer sites and event environments.
- Work closely with clients, suppliers, strategic partners, and internal teams to deliver best-practice security solutions.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with project risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Carry out fault diagnostics, rectification testing, and resolution to ensure systems operate reliably and to specification.
- Deliver works on time and to a high standard, both at head office and on-site across the UK.
- Support integrated system delivery across security, communications, surveillance, and related technology platforms.
- Collaborate with sales teams and fellow engineers to support solution design and integrated security proposals.
- Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation.
- Maintain accurate service records and technical documentation to support ongoing customer support and reporting.
- Demonstrate excellent time management, organisation, and interpersonal skills when working with clients and colleagues.
- Provide on-site technical support for events and live environments, including occasional out-of-hours working.
- Actively engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with emerging technologies and platforms.
- Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience installing and maintaining security systems.
- Strong working knowledge of video surveillance platforms such as Avigilon, Axis, and Milestone.
- Experience with access control systems including Paxton, Alta Access (Openpath), and Suprema.
- Solid understanding of IP networking, switches, and PoE infrastructure.
- Ability to work with multiple technology vendors to deliver integrated, best-fit solutions.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with manual handling as part of installation and maintenance work.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers across multi-technology projects.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide as required.
- Right to work in the UK and ability to obtain or hold a DBS check.
- Willingness to work out of hours for events, offset by time in lieu or overtime.
- Desirable certifications include IPAF, CSCS/ECS, FIA, and/or City & Guilds (not essential).
- Experience with cloud-based security platforms is advantageous but not essential.
