Radio Engineer
Your Company: A well-established provider of advanced communication, safety, and security solutions is seeking a Radio Engineer to join its growing technical support team. The business delivers specialist systems to a diverse customer base across public sector organisations, commercial environments, major venues, and large-scale events throughout the UK.Designing, installing, and supporting integrated solutions, the organisation works with leading technology partners to deliver critical communications, surveillance, access control, and threat detection systems tailored to each client’s requirements. Your Role and Responsibilities While in this position your duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Carry out site surveys and preventative maintenance inspections, documenting findings and producing detailed technical reports.
- Support the sales team with technical input, solution design, product demonstrations, and technical quotations.
- Design, build, test, install, commission, and document new communication and security systems.
- Provide first-line technical support to customers via phone and remote access.
- Deliver servicing, routine maintenance, and fault diagnostics across customer equipment and internal assets.
- Configure and programme equipment across multiple technologies, including radio communications and security systems.
- Complete bench repairs and testing to ensure equipment performance and compliance.
- Deliver static and mobile installations across customer sites and event locations.
- Provide on-site technical support for festivals, sporting events, and large venues, including occasional weekends and bank holidays.
- Participate in a 24/7 call-out rota to support contract customers as required.
- Work closely with other engineers and internal teams to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, within agreed timescales, and in line with health and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate system documentation and service records to support ongoing customer support and reporting.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, continuous professional development, and new technology adoption.
- Proven background in engineering, installation, or technical support roles.
- Experience working with RF devices and radio communication systems.
- Knowledge of manufacturers such as Motorola, Hytera, Icom, Kirisun, or Caltta is advantageous.
- Fundamental IT and networking knowledge is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, with a professional customer-facing approach.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for events (time off in lieu or overtime provided).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK as required.
- Right to work in the UK and ability to pass a DBS check.
- Comfortable with manual handling as part of installation and maintenance activities.
