Workday Admin / Support Consultant - Training provided

Oliver James is delighted to be supporting a leading Financial Services organisation as they look to appoint a Applications Support Analyst to their expanding Application Operations team.

This role is ideal for someone who loves being at the heart of a busy technology ecosystem, someone who enjoys solving problems, building strong relationships, and keeping critical business applications running smoothly. You'll be a key point of contact for users, suppliers, and managed service partners, ensuring issues are triaged efficiently and resolved within agreed SLAs.

Alongside day-to-day support, you'll play an important role in system maintenance, upgrades, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across a variety of applications, particularly Workday and its finance modules.

What you'll be doing
  • Delivering optimisations and changes to Workday configuration (training can be provided to upskill to preforming configuration)

  • Resolving issues and driving improvements across Finance systems, including Workday Financials

  • Providing technical support to internal users and liaising closely with third-party suppliers

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the business

  • Owning your objectives and contributing positively to the team's culture and values

  • Co-ordinating UAT and supporting system changes in partnership with AMS providers

  • Ensuring all tickets are logged, progressed, and resolved in line with internal processes

  • Monitoring and following up on tickets escalated to external suppliers

  • Working consistently within established operating procedures

  • Managing user expectations with clear communication and honest timelines

  • Identifying recurring issues and collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to implement sustainable solutions

  • Supporting governance and change control requirements across third-party activity

  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members

What you'll bring
  • Strong ability to identify root causes and select appropriate solutions

  • A quick learning mindset with the ability to absorb new systems and processes

  • Confident handling and resolving technical queries

  • Working knowledge of ITIL and experience using service desk/ticketing tools

  • Ownership of customer queries from start to finish

  • Proven experience supporting a range of business applications

  • Hands-on experience with Workday; either as an analyst/SME or as a specialist end user in Finance or Payroll

  • Understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger processes

  • Excellent stakeholder-management skills across technical and non-technical groups

  • Experience collaborating with third-party suppliers
