About the role:
This position will suit a candidate with a keen interest in information technology and a strong desire to deliver excellent customer service. Working closely with the wider IT team, you will provide technical support, solve basic user problems and answer queries relating to laptops, peripherals, mobile devices, office software, email and IM/voice/video communications etc. As the first point of contact for technical support, you will demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills and will be able to effectively manage your time to deliver on competing priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with laptop and mobile device setup, imaging, and installation as needed.
- Install software applications and apply updates.
- Review, prioritise, and respond to Service Desk tickets using defined recording practices.
- Assist colleagues with administration, troubleshooting and security functions in all areas of IT.
- Perform other IT-related duties as directed by the Head or Service Delivery or Group IT Director.
- Set up and maintain active directory-user accounts and security groups. Support with Change Management.
- Help maintain and adjust as needed KPIs and SLAs both internal and with the business units.
Desirable skills:
- Be able to demonstrate basic hands-on knowledge of Microsoft products.
- Previous experience in a desktop support role would be an advantage although not essential.
- Possess an interest in IT specifically focused on IT support.
- Can multitask and prioritise workload, while maintaining efficiency and quality of work.
- Can troubleshoot and solve problems relating to PC, laptop, printer and mobile device equipment.
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week.
