What is the role about?
The purpose of the Business Intelligence Analyst is to lead in the preparation and development of key business intelligence to enable efficient, effective and commercially focussed performance reporting within the business. The role will also ensure the data requirements of claims processing activity are met to ensure the business submits its claims in a timely and efficient manner.
The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for researching reporting requirements for a variety of stakeholders for current and newly awarded contracts, including designing robust controls to ensure the accuracy of the data presented.
The role will work closely with other departments to ensure business reporting requirements are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner and will ensure usage of the BI tool is maximised.

Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include
- Deliver measurable business impact through advanced BI solutions that drive strategic and operational outcomes.
- The development, optimization, and automation of Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring they are insightful, scalable, and user-friendly.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable insights and data products.
- Influence and inform decision-makers using compelling data storytelling, strategic analysis, and visual narratives.
- Act as a subject matter expert in Power BI, including DAX, data modelling, and visualization best practices.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment between BI outputs and business goals.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of BI practices, tools, and governance frameworks.
Other
Other key responsibilities of the Business Intelligence Analyst are;
- Perform data manipulation and transformation in Power BI
- Understand and use code within Power BI
- To provide cover for other roles in the Business Intelligence Team in times of annual leave / absence or workload fluctuations
- The assist in the daily preparation of the Performance Flash and other ad-hoc reports as required
To coach operational and commercial management in understanding the data presented to aid performance improvement

Essential Criteria:
- Experienced in the use of relational databases including SQL.
- Demonstrable experience of using Power BI
- Demonstrable advanced excel spreadsheet skills with pivots, macros and look-ups.
- Demonstrable experience in dealing with high volumes of data with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to present complex Business Intelligence to all levels in the organisation.
- Ability to quickly understand and follow complex systems and procedures.
- Be able to work under pressure and work to strict reporting deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Technical skills: Data Manipulation, Data Validation, Data Cleaning, Row Level Security, Relational Databases Management, Dimensional Modelling.
- Soft skills: Stakeholder Management, Problem Solving, Communication, Logical Reasoning, Questioning Nature, Dataflows, Data Pipelines, Data Validation, Attention to Detail
