Digital Forensics Group Coordinator

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Digital Forensic Group Coordinator to join our Imaging Unit. This role is critical in ensuring the effective coordination of all Digital Forensic Group (DFG) submissions, maintaining continuity and safe storage of evidential material, and providing administrative support to this specialist unit.

This is an initial 6-month contract based in the Portsmouth station with an hourly rate of £15.72 + holiday pay and benefits. Due to the nature of the role the position is based in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the Digital Forensic Group.
  • Conduct initial assessments of incoming exhibits to prioritise appropriately.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of forensic computer packages to support the team.
  • Establish and maintain accurate processes and filing systems to ensure compliance with legal requirements for seizure and retention of property.
  • Act as the first point of contact for DFG enquiries, resolving specialist queries where possible.
  • Oversee defence teams attending to view seized material.
  • Attend major search scenes as a designated document and exhibit controller under the Police Reform Act.
  • Input approved jobs into the Unit database and manage deliveries of seized exhibits.
  • Provide accurate statistical information from crime recording systems.
  • Monitor and control stationery and consumable levels.
  • Ensure compliance with Force policies on Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, and Data Protection.
  • Provide resilience and support to other DFG Coordinators as required.
  • Give evidence in court regarding involvement in investigations.

  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of legal requirements for handling evidential material.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
