Software Asset Procurement Manager

Responsible for managing and overseeing software assets throughout their lifecycle, optimising usage, ensuring compliance, and minimising costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory of software licenses, usage, and entitlements 
  • Monitor software lifecycle for timely renewals and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and audits.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on licensing issues.
  • Support internal/external audits with required documentation.
  • Analyse usage data to identify underutilised applications.
  • Recommend cost reduction plans.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for favorable terms.
  • Develop and enforce software asset management policies.
  • Educate staff on compliance and proper usage.
  • Generate reports on usage, compliance, and financial analysis.
  • Present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Work with IT and project teams to align budgets and ensure proper deployment.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare purchase orders.
  • Manage vendor onboarding.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) and procurement.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in asset management tools and procurement systems.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret usage data and optimize costs.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
