2nd Line Engineer

2nd Line Engineer - North London, Onsite - £33,000-£36,000

We're seeking a dedicated 2nd Line Engineer to provide expert technical assistance across multiple school sites for one of our managed service providers. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in keeping classroom technology seamless, supporting innovative projects, and building strong relationships with educational staff.

What you'll do:

  • Deliver high-quality 2nd line support to ensure smooth technology operations across schools.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, iPads, Chromebooks, printers, and AV equipment.
  • Manage user accounts and devices via Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
  • Support and optimise school networks, including switches, Wi-Fi, VLANs, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Perform essential updates, patching, imaging, backups, and device rollouts.
  • Keep accurate documentation and maintain asset records.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support, preferably in an educational environment.
  • Confident troubleshooting Windows, ChromeOS, and iPadOS devices.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Workspace Admin and/or Microsoft 365 Admin.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (switches, Wi-Fi, VLANs, DHCP, DNS).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with clear communication tailored to all user levels.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of safeguarding protocols, MIS systems, or classroom technology solutions.
  • Experience with UniFi, Synology, Omada Cloud, or Veeam.
  • Scripting abilities (PowerShell, Bash).
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Google, or Microsoft certifications.

  • Ability to work on-site at multiple school locations - DBS will be required
