Financial Controller – PE-Backed B2B Tech Platform
Location: Guildford (3 days per week in office)
Reporting to: CFO
Team: Finance Team Leadership (team management essential)
OverviewOur client, a fast-growth, PE-backed B2B technology platform looking for a hands-on, commercially minded Financial Controller. You will be the CFO’s right hand, owning day-to-day financial operations, leading the finance team, and helping to drive the rigour, controls and reporting cadence expected in a private-equity environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Reporting
- Lead the month-end close process and deliver accurate, timely management accounts
- Prepare board packs, investor reporting and KPI dashboards in partnership with the CFO
- Oversee statutory accounts, audit activities and compliance requirements
- Manage budgeting, forecasting and cashflow modelling
Controls, Processes & Systems
- Strengthen financial controls, governance and compliance in a scaling PE-backed environment
- Implement and improve financial policies, processes and systems (experience with scaling tech businesses is a plus)
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition, cost control and balance sheet integrity
Business Partnering
- Work closely with the CFO and SLT to support commercial decision-making
- Provide financial insights to product, sales, operations and technology teams
- Support scenario planning, pricing analysis and investment cases
Team Leadership
- Lead, develop and mentor the finance team (experience managing a team is essential)
- Foster a high-performance culture with clear standards and accountability
- Support future team growth as the business scales
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance manager preferably in a PE-backed or high-growth tech business
- Strong technical accounting skills with excellent attention to detail
- Proven experience managing and developing a team
- Confident communicator able to work closely with a CFO and senior leadership
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, scaling environment with evolving processes
- Able to work in the Guildford office 3 days per week
