Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Hedge Fund | Up to £120,000 base
A London based hedge fund with over 20 years of consistent market performance is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join its core technology team. Following a period of exceptional performance, the business is entering a new phase of growth — expanding towards a multi-strategy model and building a new systematic trading desk. This role will sit at the heart of the infrastructure function supporting that growth, with continued investment and a strong pipeline of technical initiatives.
The Role
You'll join a lean, high-calibre infrastructure team responsible for the firm's global production environment. This is a true generalist role, covering servers, networks, security, and virtualisation, with exposure to both on-prem and cloud workloads.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and evolving a mixed Windows and Linux server estate used by trading, research, and corporate teams
- Contributing to global infrastructure initiatives across security, Microsoft 365 advancements, and cloud migrations
- Supporting virtualised platforms and core storage systems
- Working closely with internal teams on infrastructure projects and BAU support
- Ensuring stability, security, and scalability of a mission-critical environment
The environment is fast-paced but pragmatic, with minimal red tape and a strong focus on outcomes rather than process for process' sake.
Required Experience
- Strong experience supporting both Windows and Linux server environments
- Solid networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls)
- Exposure to infrastructure security principles and controls
- Virtualisation experience, ideally VMware
- Familiarity with enterprise storage platforms
- Minimum 5 years' experience in infrastructure / systems engineering roles
- Recent experience within financial services or similar high-availability environments
- Comfortable operating as a hands-on infrastructure generalist
