Senior Infrastructure Engineer
We value face-to-face collaboration, so the ability to travel to our sites is essential. We offer a hybrid working model, giving you the flexibility to work in a way that suits you best.
This role is based in Reading for 1–2 days a week (with flexibility to adapt to business needs) and involves working closely with the team. It’s a 35-hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with occasional on-call duties on a rota basis.
Working within our IS Service Delivery team, you’ll be instrumental in keeping our organisation connected and resilient. You’ll support, maintain and enhance our core infrastructure across physical and cloud environments, managing everything from servers and networks to storage and endpoint solutions.
You’ll lead on project workstreams, contribute to critical incident management, and be a go-to expert for more complex technical challenges. Your insight and experience will help shape the way we deliver services to our colleagues and ultimately support our life-changing work with people affected by sight loss.
From maintaining virtualised environments and cloud infrastructure to safeguarding business continuity and disaster recovery systems, your expertise will ensure we’re always ready for what’s next. You’ll also have the opportunity to influence best practice, improve security posture, and drive meaningful technical improvements that make a real difference.
Collaboration will be at the heart of your work, you’ll partner with internal teams, third-party suppliers, and stakeholders across the organisation to make sure everything runs smoothly and effectively.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background in infrastructure and networking, ideally with industry certifications (like CCNA, MCSE or similar) or equivalent experience. You’ll have hands-on experience managing cloud and hybrid systems, networks, storage and virtualised platforms, alongside solid knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, and endpoint management tools such as Intune.
If you're passionate about technology, thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy seeing the tangible impact of your work, this is a fantastic opportunity.
