Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the PACS Team at the CTMUHB for an enthusiastic and energetic individual with excellent IT admin and troubleshooting skills.
In the course of duties, the successful candidate will (amongst many other duties) provide 1st & 2nd line IT and system support to Health Board users for hardware and software solutions, carry out IT Admin duties, liaise with suppliers and IM&T colleagues to determine & implement fixes & support the PACS Manager with ongoing projects.
Key relationships will be with clinical & non-clinical staff of all levels, from across the Health Board & the wider local health economy, as well as IM&T Colleagues & external suppliers.
The role requires a physical presence on site where there is an element of face to face user support. The main office is on the Princess of Wales site, and the post holder will go to other sites as required.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Picture, Archive and Communications System (PACS) / Radiology Information System (RIS) and associated systems that provide services to Radiology and users across CTMUHB, and will lead the ongoing development and support of these systems in collaboration with the PACS manager / Radiology. As part of the PACS/RIS team they will be responsible for providing support to the clinical and administrative users throughout the Health Board. This will require building excellent relationships with systems suppliers and colleagues in Digital Data and Technology and clinical departments to ensure that the systems support timely delivery of services across the health community. The role includes administration and monitoring of these systems to ensure they are delivering optimal performance, working in clinical areas to resolve problems and coordinating and providing training for staff to ensure that users maximise the benefits provided by the systems.

Person Specification
Qualfications & Knowledge
- Relevant Post Graduate Degree in IT / Systems Management or equivalent experience gained through attendance at relevant short courses / study days and attendance at other sites relevant to PACS / RIS administration.
- Comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of Radiology IT and PACS systems Data Protection Regulations / Caldicott principles Thorough understanding of information governance policies and their application.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of a broad spectrum of imaging procedures.
- Evidence of CPD.
- IT qualifications e.g. ECDL, Systems Support, Networking, SQL.
Experience
- Experience at senior level.
- Experience and enthusiasm for training staff and students.
- Progressive attitude towards CPD management and prioritisation of workloads.
- Experience of computed and digital radiography including PACS.
- Experience of working in the NHS.
- Able to demonstrate an awareness of managing resources.
- Experience in personnel management and experience of team management/supervision
- Experience in purchasing/commissioning equipment.
- Involvement in either project management or a change management process.
Skillls and Attributes
- IT literate using multiple software packages - email, word processing, spreadsheets, database, PowerPoint, and clinical information systems.
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
- Development of custom database queries and reports.
- Good leadership skills. Demonstrate high standards of technical skills.
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
Other Role Requirements
- Ability to travel between and work on multiple Health Board sites.
- Broad appreciation of a wide range of imaging modalities.
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.
